What a gorgeous day!! Uncertain of what conditions would be like this time of year, I had stopped in last weekend to check. The canyon was dry and hikeable, but there was a cold nasty wind blowing through that gave me concerns about hiking today. Turns out those concerns were unfounded - it was a beautiful warm day with nary a wind gust in sight (if wind gusts COULD be in *sight*). It must have been up to 15C at times, and many of us spent the day with just short sleeves on. Interestingly, there were a few bits of snow and ice in the bottom of the canyon, although I suspect they would have been gone by the end of the day.

This was my third time hiking in Horseshoe, and it is always a different experience. Read: I can never manage to find the same path twice. Oh well, such is the adventure, and we all survived coming down the "Hill of Imminent Injury" (some of us getting by with a little help from our friends). I'm sure Jane will never be the same, though, after hearing me behind her thundering down the hill on my butt, completely out of control, yelling "Jane! I'm comin' to git ya!". She just barely leaped out of the way on time... we shudder to think what could have happened.

After, we all stopped at the crafty tea house on Highway 72 where many indulged in enormous cinnamon buns. Note: these cinnamon buns really ARE enormous. When Petar says something is BIG, pay attention! Also note, the crafty tea house is closed on Sundays (and closed for the season from late Dec to early March), so if you take a trip up to Drumheller specifically to hit the tea house, you'd best to it on a different day.
