We could tell as soon as we set out that we wouldn't have much daylight left. So, per the hike directions, we headed up the ridge, but soon decided to forget the directions and just do our own thing (aka. noodling around in the nearby trails). At the bottom of the ridge, we detoured down a path back into the Roxboro neighborhood and then over into what I think may be part of Upper Mount Royal. After a short (unintentional) loop through that area, we crossed over the Elbow River on 4th Street and headed down into the Elk Island Park trails where we made the tall people duck under and through some really low-hanging branches (heh heh). After we were finished, about half of us went to The Planet for a quick coffee, while the others headed directly back to their cars. I grabbed a coffee and then had to race out the door as I was driving to Red Deer where my Dad and I went out to see Thunder Rhodes, the best Country/Classic Rock cover band I've seen in a while. -- Rhonda |
