Chester Lake is a favorite hike for many people, and it's easy to see why. It's short (8km round), with all of the elevation gain in the first half of the hike, and then a great stroll through forest, and mountain-framed meadow to the great little lake. The views up here can't be beat.

In spite of having BOTH the Rain Goddess (Claudia) and Kryptonite (Ray, who has an uncanny ability to override my good Weather Witch powers), we had pretty durned good weather today. It started off overcast, but then cleared off for a while.

This was my first time hiking to Chester in the summer - I snow shoed to it once last winter. Lana was happy to finally make it for this one as well, as she had to back out of last year's trip at the last minute. That's her second such triumph for the week, as she also finally managed to make it to Ptarmigan Cirque last Tuesday (on the fourth attempt).

At Kilkenny, about half of our group, and about half of Marg's group showed up for our usual apres-hike cheer. A few of us left early to go check out the Steam Train, but only Mehran was lucky enough to see it.
