This was our fourth attempt at this hike. The first time we tried was last October when we were foiled by snow. This summer we've tried twice before and been shut down both times by rain. Finally we got to do the hike today, and it was definitely worth the wait!! If there were such a thing as a hike 'theme park', this hike is exactly what it would look like. It's a gorgeous hike up through lush green mountains with spectacular views on all sides. Then, you come to a magical meadow with a pretty waterfall and creek running through it, back-dropped by the Ptarmigan Cirque (a cirque is a bowl underneath the mountains which used to have a glacier in it, but which has disappeared). We hiked part of the way into the bowl to take a look, and then headed back down to lunch by the waterfall.

On the way down, 'Wrong Group Feldman' (aka Sarah) was soaking in the view when she saw a group of hikers pass by her. Not realizing that the rest of us were still soaking, 'Wrong Group' joined on the end of the other hiking group thinking it was us. We eventually started down the mountain, but couldn't find 'Wrong Group' anywhere. We figured she was probably ahead of us on the trail, but weren't sure, so we did a bit of calling her name, hiking ahead, waiting behind, and so on, to try to locate her. Finally, we found her on her way back up after she realized that she was actually tagging along behind a group of TOTAL STRANGERS (unlike us, who were her 8 new best friends, having known her for at least four hours by then).

An absolutely wonderful hike, and a fabulous day for it, too. Poor Claudia (aka the Rain Goddess) missed out, and we'd like to all thank her for staying away (and thus keeping the rain away as well).
