EOC - Lovely River Valley Explorer We had a delay getting started today with one member having left her helmet at home in Calgary *cough* so we tried to get a loaner replacement which didn't pan out, so ended up buying one at Revolution. But once we were underway, it was a really great ride. We rode down McKinnon Ravine, along the river and across the Cloverdale Footbridge. We passed the Muttart Conservatory pyramids, and went up Mill Creek Ravine and then on to Tim Horton's for a rest/snack. We mostly re-traced our route on the way back except for staying on the north side of the river for a while. All together we put on 30km. Thanks to Jorinda and Lynn for joining us from Calgary, and Andreas for joining us from Tucson. It was kind of a "bring your friend on an event" day. :) -- Rhonda |

You have to love Alberta... from piles of snow to blustery winds to full-on scorching eye-lid sweating hot hot heat in two weeks. We did a loop with Neon Lake, Spruce Hollow, Grouse and Lost Lake trail to the Meadow Shelter where we stopped for lunch. Closing the loop, we used Meadow, Waskahegan, and Lost Lake trail to get back for a total of 12.5km hiking. It's an easy route - an easy hike, but with the scorcher of a day we had, we were pretty wilty by the end and happy to have the wind and rain starting to roll in. Linda pointed out that the trails would be fantastic for biking... next time we go I think we'll give that a try! Thanks to everyone who came out for the day. -- Rhonda |

Brunch at Artisan Cafe in Old Strathcona. Our Executive Advisor, Jorinda, is in town visiting from Calgary so this is your chance to come out and break bread with her. Note that ECC policy is to add 23% to the bill to cover 5% GST plus 18% gratuity. We try to get separate bills whenever we can, but that is usually not possible. The coordinator will calculate everyone's total based on what they ordered plus the 23%. If you disagree with this policy, please do not register for this event. This was my first time going to Delux, and it was definitely worth it. Very classy venue, great food, separate bills, and free sample ceasars from the featured chef. Not to mention the great company - thanks, everyone, for coming out! -- Rhonda |
