Seven of us set off from Calgary this morning. We enjoyed a semi-private viewing of Janice Williams' show (she opened the gallery special for us and some of her relatives today). We were a bit early getting up to Las Palmeras for lunch and discovered that they didn't actually open 'til noon, so we went for a brisk and frigid walk up Gaetz Ave for 15 minutes, and then back again. The food at Las Palmeras was very good (Red Deer is "growing up" in the restaurant department... they have Greek, Vietnamese, Sushi and quasi-Dim Sum now). After lunch, we headed down to Kerry Wood Nature Center and did the 4km loop around the Gaetz Lakes. It was still cold, but not quite as bad, and a very nice walk. A bit of snow on the ground, but not slippery, and not enough to warrant snow shoes by any stretch. We warmed up in the Kerry Wood Nature Center after the walk, exploring their displays and information, and then the other six headed back to Calgary while I headed on over to my dad's place.
