Bow Falls Viewpoint to the Hoodoos at Banff

We left beautiful blue skies and lovely temperatures in Calgary and drove out to the wind and flurries of Banff. Fortunately, the flurries were short-lived and the day turned beautiful once again (with a couple of minor digressions). As promised, this was an easy hike, except for a few hills which were treacherous with ice. We took the wrong fork at the trailhead and went down the Hill of Death, but soon joined onto our proper trail. On we continued, on the easy meandering trail, and on down the Hill of Certain Doom. Before we even reached the Hoodoos, Cecilia and Jane's group caught up with us, and after greetings and snowball fights, we became one group. At one point, Samantha had to stop to remove a layer and Cheryl and I nearly saw HER hoodoos. We reached the (Banff) hoodoos and most of us decided we were satisfied with the view from above, while several brave souls tromped on down the hill to get a good close-up view. We all rendezvoused back at a picnic area along the way and then headed back. I, as usual, brought up the rear and gathered up Samantha and Cheryl on their respective potty breaks. When we caught up with the rest of the group, there was absolutely NO chocolate on our breath. If anyone says something different, it is vicious lies. We retraced our steps (mostly), on up the Hill of Certain Doom, and then, since we took the proper trail back, up the Hill of Imminent Injury (but bypassing the Hill of Death).

Some folks may have hit the Kilkenny, but most of us bailed at the carpool to get ready for Halloween Parties!
