It must have been fun because we have the bruises to prove it!!

Nine intrepid warriors met at the carpool amidst the gray skies, flying snow and slushy roads. Three were to meet us at the battlefield.
During the ride out one member in our car, who's name I won't mention but it starts with an "I", was getting very excited about the possiblities of shooting everything that moves, things that don't move and anything else he felt like. His enthusiasm was infectious, if a little scary!
Once we reached Cochrane, the skies turned bright blue, the sun was shining and there wasn't alot of snow at the side of the road. It was like we had entered a parallel universe. Well, not really, but it was sure a lot nicer than Calgary! The weather was beautiful and warm all day with only the camo and a fleece shirt (and pants) for warmth. Couldn't have asked for better weather. I digress....
Upon reaching the battlefield, we donned our camo and helmets with only one person opting for armour. One of the men was interested until a worker told him that he would be laughed at because the armour was for girls and little kids. He took the armour off.
We chose our guns and headed out to the practice range for a yak yak (not the animal, a safety chat) and some practice. Then, back to heaven for more yakking, then we were off.
As our vicious band of 12 was heading out to wreak havoc, we were approached by another band of 10 who asked us to play against them. Seeing that they were all big, burly men the consensus was that they would make bigger targets and we would go for it. MISTAKE!!! They were all cops and cleaned our clocks!!!! Over and over!!!!
During the second game, though, we did capture the flag....OK, it has to be said, I captured the flag.....but was then shot dead. We continued to hold our own with Jennifer H. finally getting the flag and making a run for it. At that exact moment, the rest of their team came back on the field after correcting equipment malfunctions. Shoot! We were doing so well when we only had to play half of them!!
Anyway, Jen was a short 10 feet from the finish line when the rest of the bad guys entered the field, and shot her dead. THEN, they had the audacity to pick up their flag which happened to be almost right beside our flag at this point, and return both to their base. RATS! Lost again!!!
The good part of that story is that the girrrls got the flag!
We continued to play several more games, or should I say get beaten several more games, until we had enough. As the other team was finished pummelling us, we were informed that it was actually one of the guys stag and he had to don a bright green POLICE vest and run down the road while everyone lined up and shot at him. Poor b**t**d!! I can only imagine the bruising!
A few of us had equipment failure which dampened their fun, and poor Rhonda had her glasses shmooshed, so she couldn't play either. But, I got to play the whole time and I had a blast. I'm definitely going to put this on the calendar again!
Of course the obligatory photo shoot followed our day with many a Charlie's Angel pose taken. Just in case you don't recognize the poses...
We then went to the Kilkenny with 100% showing and Philip and Stephanie and a friend came which meant we had 3 pitchers of free beer and 75 free wings. That was good. It was Steph's birthday so we sang to her and she shared her piece of mud pie, in spite of the singing.
I think a good time was had by all. I think if it wasn't quite so damp, there would have been less equipment failures and the men could have played a bit more. Oh well. The girls did OK.
