In Search of Dinosaurs

OK, we didn’t spot any dinosaurs but we sure had a great time! Fourteen of us headed out in 3 vehicles to the Drumheller Badlands, specifically Horseshoe Canyon. A slight delay in departure (darn map was out of date, eh Rhonda ….) got us trekking around 12:00. The diversity of plant life (e.g. cactus) and rock formations/strata made for spectacular views.

One of the joys of this trip, besides being able to walk the next day as there was distance, but no real ‘vertical’ to this trip, was that you could meander and explore in small groups as we made our way through the valley of the canyon.

Conversation was lively and entertaining, thanks in part to Mehran’s humor and Darryl’s enlightenment of 2005 flying cars.

We closed the day off at the small town of Wayne just east of Drumheller, as well suggested by Darryl. Neat little town, lots of bridges and motor bikes (Pete felt right at home as an owner of 6 bikes !). Enjoyed some homegrown buffalo burgers, c/w a fly or two. The trek back to Calgary was uneventful other than a momentous event of wrapping my truck by the 100 000 Km mark.

Great job organizing Rhonda !

Cheers … Mike
