Today, Pooh (Stuart) brought out two Leors with him. Now, without getting too sidetracked, I would just like to ask, WHO THE HECK KNOWS TWO GUYS NAMED LEOR!!?? Well, I guess, now I do. Anyway, Pooh brought two Leors with him, but no Tiggers, Roos or Piglets.

The fog was so thick today that we never did figure out for sure if we were on Mount Yamnuska, or in Wal Mart. The greeter in the blue vest did nothing to calm our fears about the latter. So, perhaps it was the fog, but I would have to say that the views from Yamnuska are slightly overrated. Susan said it looked way better if you closed your eyes and remembered what it looked like last time you were up, but that didn't really help me at all.

We hiked up the east side of the mountain, where some of the group decided to try for the summit. They never found it, but they did find Steve's group at one point. The rest of us went straight out to begin traversing the base of the cliff in search of the famous scree slope which is a "must run down" highlight of the Canadian Rockies. We overshot the scree, and at one point our group of six accidentally went off trail and onto a really treacherous (IMHO) slippery clay slope which freaked a few of us out pretty good. Mehran, on the other hand, trooped across it as thought it was his living room carpet. One good thing about overshooting the scree is that we were eventually joined by the "fast group" who had left Steve's group and come back around to join us. When we realized that we'd overshot the scree, we turned back, taking a lower trail and bypassing the stupid clay that tried to fling me into the abyss. Soon, the "fast group" (aka The Sarcastic Four, aka The Flying Rappeler, The Human Slide, Monkey See and The Group Wife... sorry Jana) decided that to heck with finding the 'official' scree slope... here was a slope, and it was scree, and off they went running down it while the rest of us sensibly carried on to where we found the good scree slope. For the record, YES, the Scree Slope Rocks, And YES, you MUST run down it once in your life! We ran down the slope, and at the end, five hearty souls decided to run down a little bit MORE scree that didn't look very run-able to myself, Susan and Mehran.

I do believe this was the first time in my life I was the first one back from a hike. Mehran, Susan and I made it back to the cars first, joined soon after by Cam, Tanya, Stuart and The Leors. As we waited for the "fast group", pondering exactly how long we had to wait before we could just say screw it and head for the pub, they were bushwhacking their way back from their inferior scree slope (although they seemed to enjoy it), and, I understand Jana stopped once to don some lip gloss so she'd look good for the helicopter rescue guys when they showed up. Soon, Ray called in on the radio to confess that they were lost, at which point I held up my radio as everyone at the parking lot laughed their guts out. Once we settled down, we told them where they were and how to get back to the parking lot (they were only 10 minutes away at the quarry).

With everyone safely returned (I find it terribly amusing that all three groups returning took the wrong turn that brought them out at the quarry), we headed off to the Kilkenny, where we saw Dave's group (Stanley Glacier), Steve's group (earlier Yamnuska trip), and Cheryl brought her son, Aaron, in to say 'hi' on his visit to Calgary.
