Trip Log

Notes Actions
Once upon a time, the Good Witch of Weather cast a spell that whoever carried metal hiking poles while traversing beyond the tree line of high mountainous areas would be spared from imminent lightning strikes. She ensured safe passage from savage bears that lurked in the area….unfortunately, her spell did not carry on towards creepy crawly critters. Chivalry was in the air with the sharing of highly prized wild strawberries, water and ice cream. Alas, all was not well in the Land of Hike, as the Bad Witch of Blisters did arrive. She ensured two members of the hiking crew had a rough go of it. On a positive note, the price of Dr. Scholl common shares increased dramatically after this hike as the supply of mole foam has suddenly become rather scarce while the markets continue to rally in the duct tape arena. The hike included a number of people with their own magic, who could easily morph into goats and thus climb at break neck speeds passed sheer cliffs and among steep craggy rocks. The group was once again divided into the fast and slow groups….apparently, one hiker insisted that she was in the moderate group (Tip: when the slow group passes the moderate group, I think you lose that title)! The goats (I mean fast group) had sufficient time at the summit to gather wood and build a shelter for latecomers. Arguably, the shed had its limitation (we’re not talking the Taj Mahal); however, it was a thoughtful gesture for weary travelers who tested their mental ability to reach the summit. The lack of oxygen nearing the summit had an adverse affect on some hikers; one is still singing something about Dora the Explorer and keeps repeating the words “back pack” numerous times in slow motion….

The hike was spectacular with distance views of peaks and valleys… the group finished off the night with beer and grub at Dixon’s Pub.
