Powderface Ridge
This is an excellent hike for a hot summer day. There's a lot of shade on the way up, and then up on the ridge, there's a nice cool breeze. We hiked up the south approach to Powderface Ridge. The first couple of kilometers are a fairly steep grade through a forest. It opens up for a while beside a meadow, and then after that, there's a lot of up-and-down as you follow the side of the ridge (again, in the forest). A final 150m ascent at the end, and then suddenly the ridge is right on top of you. Spectacular views at the top, especially of Nihahi Ridge to the west and Prairie Mountain and Moose Mountain to the east. -- Rhonda MPS File (for GPS) |
