Ah, this is exactly what I needed. After several weeks of sedentary "shoulder season blahs", it was great to get out for a nice easy hike with a group of nice, easy-going people. The conditions were great, the sky was blue, temps were good. It was fantastic. It was great to share Mark's birthday hike with him (unbeknownst to us, until Veronica spilled the beans). Mark cleaned up on the birthday hugs and tea, and then taught us all the origin of the phrase "blue moon", which we all thought was very cool. We're all anxiously awaiting our invitations to his upcoming "blue moon New Year's 2009" party. We all discovered that Jacques is the point of reference for EVERYTHING. When Brent had his bear encounter, it was "from here to Jacques" away. Then, when Veronica saw a lynx, it was "from here to Jacques" away. Brent talked about Writing on Stone park, which is "from here to Jacques" away from the U.S. border. And now we're looking forward to our trip to Ptarmigan Cirque, which is 150km southwest of Jacques. Thanks, everyone, for a great day. Hope to see you all again soon. -- Rhonda |
