COC - Skiing at the Canmore Nordic Centre Beginners

Well large group with no problems to manage. They all just blended into the trail like the group was two or three. Blink and they were gone. We divided it into two groups Intm. and Novice worked out real well my group even thou indicating new to the sport did really well never stopped and smiled all the way, Now Karl's group well who knows, its Carl after all.:) Thanks to all that came and a big thanks to Karl for his support and help with the Intermediate group. Take it away Karl. Roy Intermediate Group Thanks to Marty for picking out a great route. It was a loop of the outer trails and provided for a lot of fun and excitement. We all kept a steady pace and got a lot of practice on the hills. Some of the hills were pretty steep and were tough to climb but fun to descend. I had a good spill and knocked the wind out of myself. I swore I heard the sound of breaking glass when I crashed. Marty said it was my pride. Rhonda said it might have been my brain. I'm still not sure but I know my ribs are sore. The group made it back to the Nordic Center and everyone was still smiling. That's always a good sign. Probably had a lot to do with good company and great weather. Most of the intermediate people headed home at this time but a few of us decided to do another 5K. That was the icing on the cake and then we stopped by the Nordic Center to catch up with the rest of the group and share some stories. Not sure my GPS was correct. Cumulative elevation gain said 400 meters but profile indicated more like 225 meters or so. It felt like 400. Thanks to Roy for getting us off our couches and enjoying yet another great day in the Rockies. Karl
CCC - High Performance Rodeo - One Yellow Rabbit

The plan is to take in the Freak Show tour at 8pm, then make our way through the rest of the Carnival. For night owls, the Grandstand show starts at 11:00pm.
Carnival of the Macabre (Free)
- Duck under the Big Top to feast your eyes and ears on the freaky, creepy and carnivalesque. Step into the darker side of strange, as the Centre Court is transformed into a high-flying carnival. Chomp on a gourmet hot dog and steal a smooch at the kissing booth while testing your ick-factor with extreme piercers and contortionists. Daily scheduled events turn a spotlight on the bizarre, with sword-swallowers, tarot card readers and aerial acrobats, and the Midway Stage features circus musicians, spoken-word artists and dancers that delve into the twisted depths of your imagination.

No single tent can contain the boiling chaos of a circus, and that’s where Freak Show comes in. The Swallow-a-Bicycle Performance Co-op hosts a cavalcade of Calgary’s freakiest emerging artists in an interactive tour through the bowels of the EPCOR CENTRE, from the Ledge to the Hall of Pillars.

Grandstand - Collaborative Festival of Calgary Independent Music & Art ($14)
- Calgary’s next-gen indie bands, unleashed on the Big Secret Theatre stage! Get your engines revving at Midway, then head to Grandstand where the party ignites. Calgary’s indie bands are getting play around the world, but their choicest, most explosive concerts are reserved for hometown crowds. What happens when you’ve got two bands, primed for greatness and you put them on stage together? Each night, local acts will pair up and storm the stage for unpredictable collaborations and wild experiments, spinning you down a radiant whirlpool of noise.

11:00 PM Vailhalen, Woodpigeon, Dan Vacon with members of The Neighbourhood Council and Azeda Booth
12:05 AM The Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir and Jay Crocker & the Electric Apes

I don't really know what to say...all I promised was an unusual evening, and unusual it was. I really enjoyed myself and hope everyone else did too. Thanks to everyone who attended and brought along their adventurous spirit. We pity those who didn't take the opportunity to attend and share in experiencing the 'Worm Exterminator', Leonard, the 'Dark One', and of course the 'Bubble Wrap Man'! Our lives will never be the same... And thanks to Jorinda, there are photos so we can relive the event!
